This new dynamic MA Fashion Design accommodates the needs of contemporary fashion designers on a global level, enhancing professional understanding, scholarship and employability. The course will provide a comprehensive, creative and critical understanding of the international fashion industry and business-led factors that influence professional practice. We offer students a flexible yet structured MA framework that will challenge key issues/future trends in the fashion industry, and integrate inter- and multi-disciplinary theory and practice within conceptual design thinking. For example you may wish to explore the relationships between specific psychological theories, your design process and marketing/promotion strategy; or the analysis of mathematics and innovative pattern cutting; or sustainable design and production of products. This is also a great opportunity to explore the future needs of the consumer. Students will establish an intellectually challenging forum for advanced critical analysis, peer group debate and exchange of ideas. Practical and theoretical understanding of these relationships will generate innovative responses in the realisation and communication of design, branding and marketing/promotion of ideas and solutions. The MA Fashion Design takes place over three trimesters, completed within a single calendar year of full-time study, or two years part-time. The modular structure enables integrated participation by part-time, full-time and January start students.

A good honours degree, (or equivalent) in a related subject, preferably in Fashion Design. Applicants with professional experience are also encouraged to apply. Entry will normally be subject to submission of a portfolio, and an interview. Candidates for
